Hello Neil

Yeah, Willem and myself have been discussing cut time in the forum here:
http://www.totallyguitars.com/forum/11- ... ad-pattern

I don't really grasp the purpose of cut time and how you count 2 beats when the the beats are quarter notes 2/4.

Can you play a simple piece of music as a comparison example and count it so I can hear the count difference between cut time and 4/4 time?

Thanks

Thanks for the chord construction lesson: 4 String 7th Chords

I just don't understand how all these different chord types Open, Barre, 4 string, triad etc) fit together in the bigger picture. For example when do you use one kind and not another or do you just mix them all up depending on whats easiest to play at any given time or is it all about the quality of sound one might hope to achieve?

Apart from not picking up chord books and browsing the internet.... what is the best way to think about chords to master them and eliminate confusion.... or is it just me?

how I am meant to practice the 4 string 7th chords.
I can finger them but what's the next stage?

Cheers

I am trying to finish classical gas and I am working on details that needs to be polished. In measure 28 Neil adds a snare thumb shot.

My question is: when is it a good time to insert these percussive notes ?

In Classical gas the snare shot does not seem to be on the music sheet ( in measure 28) but there is a dotted quarter note which gives time to put the snare shot. I am also working on Linus and Lucy and it is different there, as the snare shot seems to be (as an example) the last note of the first measure where the note is tied to the first note of the second measure again having some extra time.

Thanks

Marc

Neil- I've got Shades of Funk down pretty well except for the last measure. Can you demonstrate how that should finish? I've watched the video a number of times and what I play doesn't sound right but I'm playing exactly like the tab shows. I think my timing is off.

Thanks! :cheer:

Neil- Second question if time allows. Modes; your Genius Series is outstanding and the first time I have really understood the difference. You are right, it isn't as scary as it seems.

But when and why would you use different modes? If Ionian is associated with Western music when do the others come into play?

Can you point out any TARGET songs that are in "other" modes?

Thanks! :cheer:
