Many happy returns Jim!
Thanks to Rick, Anton, Willem, Bill, Marc, Chris, & Bob for the Birthday greetings!
Sorry I haven't been that active on the forum lately. Let me use this as an opportunity to give an update. I am retired/unemployed and you might think I could sit around all day playing the guitar, but not the case. I have been volunteering and this year I am the President of the PTA at my son's middle school. This has taken a lot of time and I can't wait for the school year to end tomorrow.
Willem, thanks for the message on Dylan. I just finished a course/workshop by a local guitar teacher, an all Bob Dylan class in honor of his 70th birthday. So, now I have 10 really cool mostly finger-picking arrangements of some dylan songs - plenty of stuff to work on.
When I do get guitar time these days I am trying to learn how to travis pick. It's a bit frustrating, feels like starting over as a beginner again, learning new skills, trying to get up to speed. For example, just when I thought I could strum a barre chord and make a decent noise, I find that picking the bass on the Bm sounds like the string is dead. I haven't even tried to sing and travis pick at the same time.
Anyway, lots of things to learn & practice and thanks again for the birthday wishes!
PS - I have also been taking ukulele workshops with a local teacher from Hawaii and performed with 40+ students at a recent ukulele festival!
