That's a lot of pumpkin soup Scott!
Now how does he get that thing out of his greenhouse and to the State Faire in one piece? Looks like he's going to have to de-construct his greenhouse to start with!

Marc and Chris, this is for real. Two years ago, someone here set the new world record for the largest cabbage. It was over 100lbs if I recall correctly. They actually have to pick these things up with a tractor or heavy equipment of some kind.

The long daylight hours that we have in the spring is the key.


For example, here is a list of state vegetable records set in last year's Alaska State Fair:

23-foot, 3 1/2-inch corn stalk
4.702-pound parsnip
1,019-pound pumpkin
17" .195-pound yellow zucchini
67 1/8-inch long gourd
55.15-pound blue hubbard squash
21.530-pound bushel gourd
