My result is 3 times better than that I used to get before I moved house to Auckland, still no fibre but the work has commenced to roll out fibre to the country and the Govt claims majority will have it by 2015, we are fortunate as we are amongst the first scheduled to get it.
What Ricks not saying is that his house is next door to the server

Chas- I didn't realize it but I'm 150 miles from the server in Seattle but apparently with fiber optics distance isn't as critical because of the speed of light in the fiber. Pretty cool actually.
I used to be at Willem's speed and it took forever to download anything. I don't miss it one bit!!! Most major Metro areas in the US got fiber cable 5-10 years ago. I lived in a rural area and they were always promising us fiber but it never happened. Now I live closer to town so we have it.
I also have a fast, quad core processor (i7-2600 @ 3.4 ghz w/ 16GB of RAM) in this computer so it screams! Sometimes it does seem like I'm right next to the source.
