Lang may yer Lum reek!

or to the non Scots on the site

Long may your chimney smoke (literal translation) = In olden days if your Lum reeked it meant you had coal to burn, meaning you had wealth to buy it, and finally it meant you had warmth which in turn implied good health

Lang = Long
Lum = Chimney
Reek = Smoke
Thirteen minutes until Scotland enters 2012 :)

Happy New Year from Scotland :)

Reek also means to smell or stink. Burning coal is not the most pleasant odor on the planet...

You'll never guess what we have in Oklahoma at Bricktown: Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it will bring in a slew of cash to the city.

Since this thread is almost expired due to midnight and all, I need to post something. I cannot post on many of the threads in this forum, including my own. When I click "reply" or whatever, it just takes me back to the forum with no place to write a message. Since I can write here, I thought I'd toss that in. I'll turn in a ticket next week if it keeps up.

Happy New Year to all.

Sam

Someone mus have told Mother Nature that the new year was here because the wind is absolutely howling outside this morning after being quite calm the last few days of the old year.

Happy New Year everybody!

Slange Var

Slange Var Pronounced [Slan je varr]. This is the Scottish for cheers (santé). "Slainte Mhath" in Gaelic.

So Slainte Mhath to all my fellow TGT'ers
