Nice going, Dennis. Looking forward to reading it..........if a Taylor owner will let me look over their shoulder.

Dennis sells an article to a guitar magazine
The new Spring 2012 Wood & Steel is out, filled with great articles, how-to's, and plenty of guitar porn. Here's a link to it: http://www.taylorguitars.com/wood-and-steel

I got my W&S mag yesterday, read the article that you wrote and really enjoyed it. Now I am on line on the TG site and see this string of conversation so I went back to the article and sure enough, it is the one you wrote. Fun stuff!! (This string of conversation started way before I was part of the TG site)
So, congratulations! It is a very nice artiicle...

And I should have added that it is a nice article.
It is mentioned on the cover: "Open Mic Tips"
And after the first few pages of letters & table of contents & editor's notes, it is the first article in the magazine! Very well done and good graphics!

Thanks, Jim and Bart. Because of its prominent placement in the magazine and the really stellar graphic design job, I get the sense that Taylor liked the article -- at least enough to want to invest a fair amount of time and energy in making it look good. Funny to think that people like Lindsey Buckingham and Daryl Hall might be reading my article. I wonder if they need a few tips on how to perform at an open-mic.

BTW, I made sure to point out your article to my son because he is about to experiance his first "open mic" opportunity. He is a U.S. Marine but will still be nervous when he gets in front of people to play & sing for the first time. Hopefully he will pull it off like a pro with the help of your article.
We just never know when something we do or say might help a fellow guitarist out...

Its a very well written artcle Dennis, congrats all round!
A first open mic solo performance is test of fire for anyone, that's for sure Bart! Semper Fi!....my son because he is about to experience his first "open mic" opportunity. He is a U.S. Marine but will still be nervous when he gets in front of people to play & sing for the first time.

Bart: As a former Marine myself, I can tell you that nothing I learned in boot camp quite prepared me for the experience of standing in front of a paying audience for the first time. Just let your son know that the audience is on his side. I'm sure he'll do just fine and will be looking forward to his next one -- which is infinitely easier than the first one.
Chris: Thanks. I appreciate it.
Chas: It's the summer edition, but Taylor hasn't posted it on their web site yet. I'll let you know when they do.
