A great version indeed and a great artist. Whenever I hear the name Doc Watson, I always hear "Shady Grove" in my mind.

I saw Doc playing w/ his son Merle and their bass player (T Michael Coleman?) at a little county fair in Durham NC about 25 years ago. One of those 3-stage deals with several bands playing at once. Doc and crew plopped their chairs down in the middle of the park and started playing. There were maybe 25 people standing watching him do his set. Mesmerizing.

My favorite Doc tune is Tennessee Stud. This particular version doesn't really showcase his virtuosity, but you can tell he really enjoys playing this one:
