Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and the author of one of my all-time favorite 70s soft-rock songs, Sentimental Lady. Here's an excellent write-up on his life and death:

I watched a good doco on Fleetwood Mac that featured Bob Welch only a few nights ago. Quite a coincidence. What struck me is that he seemed to be very much his own man with his own ideas about music (and one assumes generally). I admire that. Suicide is such a sad solution. RIP.

Sad indeed; also read he was very ticked-off that FM excluded him from their induction into the R&R Hall of Fame. But then again; who cares? The Hall has lost all credibility with me anyway. Think Mick Fleetwood did mention him in their acceptance speech-not sure?
