I wanted to post this link when Kevin uploaded the Hank Williams song Jambalaya. It's a little video of how a pirogue is made. You know . . . . "Me gotta go, pole the pirogue down the bayou".

I'm sure that a bit of this movie short is staged, but it's probably very close to authentic. If you have some time to spare, there are a lot of interesting videos tied to music and other aspects of everyday life at the folkstreams.net site.
