OK we haven't had a truly silly discussion on the forum for a while. We're due.

Out of the blue this morning my brother SMSs me with the question "Which super power would you like?

Perhaps he's handing them out today. :)

Being decidedly boring and in the process of getting ready for work I answered:

- flying
- swimming underwater and being able to breathe
- being able to transport myself anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye.

He answered - super health, mind reading (no thanks) and time travel (hmmm interesting).

I think I can do better than my first attempt. On reflection I think

- virtuoso multi-instrumentalist - being able to pick up any instrument and play it amazingly (OK I just want to be Nessa :) it's true. ) :P

So what superpowers would you like? Yes I will steal any I particular fancy. :)

Yours in silliness,

Shel

PS - yes, I think we have had this discussion before as the long-term members will remember. Perhaps your answer has changed. :P

I'd like super "fearless" power so I could play guitar in front of anybody (even an open mic!). And while we're at it, I wouldn't mind super "singing" power so I could sing in key (with maybe a 4 or 5 octave range).

Ow! Good choices Daryl. I'll definitely have me some of them. :)

Nice.

Speaking of singing and playing....you've been awfully quiet lately. Working on your Opus? Writing a rock opera? Putting the final touches on your next masterpiece?

We miss your brilliance.

Shel

Brilliance? I'll take some of that too! I really haven't played my guitar since my Johnny B. Goode video (in July). :-( I'm still working on my addition and my hands and entire body ache. It will hopefully be done (enough) for Thanksgiving and then I can get back to playing.......

Super Learner! I am so slow sometimes, I'd love to speed the whole process of learning up to super fast... it would help with my imatience and lower my frustration levels ;-).

If your brother likes time travel Shel, then I recommend the film I saw this weekend with Bill Nighy, About Time. For once a good film with a good story line (really keeps you on your toes), well acted and no senseless violence and cheap, gratuitous sex. Also recommend The Time Traveller's Wife.

Only remember everything for acoustic guitar and let the hands do there work,,I think my head is not big enough, but its more leak like a sieve..

An other thing could be to choose songs and learn them compleet,,maybe now I would with the invention of the ''hangout''(google)

So super learning (yep I'm definitely in the slow camp at times too and increasingly so ...) and a bigger brain capacity. Well apparently we mere morals only use a small percentage of our brains at any one time, but yep I'd queue for that handout too. :)

So super singing, super fearless, super fast learner, big brain. I'm not going to say no to any of those if they're on offer. Good ones. :)

Hey what about perfect pitch. I reckon that would come in handy, to be able to sing any note on call and recognise any note or chord. That would make deciphering songs breezy, no?!? Yes I hear you, it is possible to develop those spidey senses, with LOTS of ear training.

OK any superpowers that you WOULDN'T want. I catch the bus to work and home often and I'm telling you now on a summers day I DEFINITELY DON'T want a super sensitive nose...unless I can choose when it's operating.

Chris - Thanks for the movie recommendations. I'll pass them on. But hey! What's wrong with a little gratuitous sex. :P

Let the silly continue.

thanks for playing guys.

Well, then you should go see We are The Millers. For 12 year olds and upwards, lots of conversational jokes about anal sex, big black dildos every 2 minutes. When I looked around the cinema it was mums and teenagers and granny and the 12 year olds... nice family conversational material!! Seriously, the casual use of these over-sexualised themes and constant pornographic language in family films seems more than a little perverted to me. In fact, it seemed sinister. Don't get me wrong, some nice sex would be fine... but sitting next to your daughter listening to porn is no fun. The porn overload in our society has killed the erotic stone dead.

Ok you got me there. Kids movies. I'm with you. I must have missed that bit. My little girl is all grown up so I'm not experiencing this sort of thing vey often. I'm mostly seeing very little kids films and lucky the porn phenomena has not pervaded that genre.

I imagine it's not fun for sure.

So a superpower that eliminates inappropriate material for the audience age from the film screen, it's yours (don't you wish?), use it wisely.

Hi Shel, with my crazy schedules (far from improving) I would love to stop time whenever I want and not stop doing what I like because I have to run.

That said since I can already breathe under water and fly, it would be nice to add to speak all the languages of the universe so if some aliens ever show up , they won't feel lonely
