I would recommend working on the parts you can handle, and coming back to the stretches, and just keep trying. One thing I've learned in my time here at TG: what seems impossible is often doable, eventually, including big stretches. When I started working on "Madman Across the Water," I was *positive* that I would never be able to make the one big stretch that's in there. Now I can do it no problem. What I realized was that, if you can physically make the stretch when you're not trying to actually play the song -- that is, if you can put your fingers where they need to go and make the notes sound, however long it might take to do it -- you can eventually make it work in the song. It might take a LOT of work (repetition), but it's doable. (If you simply can't physically make the stretch at all, that's a different story.)

Willem, I've seen you ask several times about "When I'm 64." I don't know if I ever told you this, but I meant to: you can go to this page and buy the audio of Neil's Beatles tunes (and others), AND you can buy the tab for a number of tunes, including that one:

http://www.joplinandsweeney.com/store.html

You might still prefer a full lesson, but that should at least get you started. I worked on it for a couple of months sometime back, and had it fairly well down. I mean to get back to it soon -- it was beyond my skill level at the time, but I think I've caught up now. Still a challenging one, though!

I gueess we have but a advertising on fingerpickin told me that there was a song on it that I can't find in the target program (when I'm 64, instrumental), mmm pity..

(Sorry to hijack the thread. And now, back to the "spam" discussion).

We can unsubscribe, if you do they send you to the site (the lesson page) looks good to me.

I want to add this to the 'conversation' if I may.

My phone rings, the land line and even at times my cell, a huge average of the time it's some damn sells rep (or computer generated voice) trying to sell me something I do not want. I buy something at Wal-Mart, Dick's Sporting Goods, Under Armor, E-Bay, etc, etc and get blasted with offers, most of the time I am on my e-mails I'm deleting crap. So yes, it's a part of life and yes, easy enough to opt out and just hit certain things and delete or send to 'block messages from.....'

Yet, TG survives because of the subscriptions, there is not one of us that wants to see it gone. Us "Old Timers/Founding Members" get one hell of a deal, the cost has NEVER gone up. That's just unheard of in today's world. It is still a business and several people make their living here. Maybe not their entire income, but a chunk of it. If that stops, so does the site!!

Most of us here 'stumbled upon' this wonderful place and it has become a part of our life's. Both in and of itself and outside of the site in the friends that we have made and care deeply for. I couldn't imagine not knowing many of you here and sharing our times together. Much less the ones we will experience here on out. It has become more of a 'family' and that is in large due to Neil and Nani and Vanessa.

Until late last year the only advertising TG had done was on YouTube and word of mouth. The advertising campaign now in place is in the early stages and not the only way to find the next group of folks who will join us. Give the group time and feedback so they can improve this and the site itself. Will not happen overnight, few good things do.

Most of you know I play Poker, did so anyways, both live and online. One thing I came to hate is the belittling of 'newbies' or newcomers. No new faces, no 'new' money. No 'new' money, no more game, either by the 'house' or the players. This site and the sister sites need to grow, in fact they MUST for all of us to continue to enjoy what we have come to expect.

For a bit of off the cuff humor

Problem with 'satire' is plainly, some folks just don't get it!! (per Ray Wiley Hubbard)

Just fyi......

I get about two or three of the TG mails a week, but I don't mind, as I signed up for them...

However, if you didn't, you can see that they conveniently place two locations at the bottom where you can unsubscribe.

My view would be that it is not spam if you signed up and you can unsubscribe from mailers.

Hopefully that would be acceptable to those who are bothered by it.

Cheers!

+ 1

(1) Spam implies we are hawking Viagra. Um no, we're trying to build the site, and build the resources here, it is and has to be a for profit site (Neil's fingers need band aids and they are expensive these days)

(2) You can opt out, there are multiple links on every email to do so... Click one if you don't want to hear from us

(3) My personal email philosophy is simple, if I see an email and I don't want to open it, I don't, works marvels, reduces stress or focus on "small stuff".

(4) We are sending both content and product and offer emails, DVD products are new content, not available streaming content, you may or may not have an interest, but we have demand, if you don't want to know about it see points (1) (2) (3) and this one

(5) We are working on implementing a new email platform with the new design and tech changes to segment lists, It is at easy thing to do technically to swap over but we have a plan. (pesky opt-in procedures and mail hosting issues make it somewhat similar to double pike backward flip of a high board)

(6) We love positive feedback, not snarky, we are human, after all, sometimes sensitive, but we work hard on getting content up first, tech second, but we continue to improve, sometimes (actually a lot of times) it is a lot slower than I would like, but we have a certain amount of resources to do the above and make tech changes to the site, but rest assured it is never static.

(7) Thanks to the community for making it a dynamic place, reminds me of the current race for the presidency, two sides and a small slither of folks in the middle.

Onwards and upwards.
