Hmm. They never talk about why F# is good, they just sort of joke around and repeatedly say F# is good. And as Neil pointed out in the news, F# is the least flexible guitar key. I don't know these guys, so maybe it's sarcasm?
All this said, when I'm just messing around with barre chords, I often start in F#, without really thinking about it. No idea why. So it won't be lonely?
They do mention how it's the lowest note to bounce up to by a full step. You can get some good, guttural stuff out of that. It doesn't really make the case for it being the best key, or the "People's Key." And it's nice to be able to make use of open strings and harmonics when playing lead to power chords, and F# limits you there.
