So, I got a guitar strap with the thought of learning to play standing. I don’t like it one bit so far!!! First off I didn’t realize I would also need strap locks? Still have to Google that. Second, I didn’t realize how different my guitar would sound to me in the standing position.

My question is do most people learn new songs in the sitting position where they can look at the fretboard and finger placement and then switch to playing it standing? After they have memorized the song?

Thinking I may sit forever....................

Hi Ysela,

Standing is a whole different ball game and I would hold off on mastering that, although it is obviously better for singing. One thing that might help is adjust the strap while you are sitting and make sure it is up pretty tight and high before you stand up. One problem people have is it hanging too low.
