Howdy Neil & everyone,
The 12-bar blues segment is very helpful in demonstrating how to use the first position movable blues scale. I'm interested in tips and insights on how to identify the 2nd and 3rd blues positions (beyond the B/E strings)and incorporate those positions in my playing.
A follow up question is about how people memorize the notes in a solo or melody. Does anyone for instance do it by note position on a scale (5th/3rd) vs. note name (A,B,C)etc. Whats better. My goal is to tie it all together.
Thx,
Michael
2nd & 3rd position blues scales

Michael- I've tried to learn all the scale pentatonic patterns by number, then the minor pentatonic patterns and then the blues pattern is just a pentatonic scale pattern with a flatted 5th. There are usually two per pattern since the patterns are two sets of scales.
That's all my ancient hard drive can hold at one time! :silly:
Good luck! :cheer:
Michael- I don't remember welcoming you to the program! Great to have you with us. Could we ask you to slide over to the Please Introduce Yourself and tell a little about you? Where you live, how old you, what are your musical tastes and where you are on your musical journey. It's painless and we've all done it.
Yours is a perfect question for this program. I hope others chime in as well.
Hope you enjoy the program and let us know if we can help in any way!
