Guitar Pro
I notice there are Guitar Pro files with the lessons. I have a line 6 POD Studio UXI with riffworks software. Do the Guitar Pro files work in that environment? I am literately unable to get started with the software, seems way complicated and there is absolutely no literature. Can anyone direct me to a good on-line tutorial or other resource the guide me through instillation and teach me how to use the setup? Thank Mike
Hi look in the Community tab for Groups there is a Group for Guitar Pro users you can read a lot about it there and also ask questions. I have also put up tutorials on how to tab out a simple song in the Forums, use the advanced search for them they have Demo in the title so use that in the search i'll have a look also and see if i can find the links for you to. The latest version of GPRo6 has the best Aide yet although earlier versions are not so hot.
Edit: The 4 demos are in the Guitar Pro Group. They were for GPRo 5 but the idea is similar for GPRo 6. Its a powerfull programme able to play tabs vary tempo, loop sections of the tab , you can write out your own using either standard notation or tablature. You can also download to PDF, midi, ASCII,.
Any problesm PM me and I'll see if I can help out. Purchasing this was 2nd best guitar investment yet, TG is the 1st.

Hi Mark, The line 6 products are not made to read a Guitar Pro file, you need to have Guitar Pro software. I have the entry level Line 6 Pod and for it to work, you need to have your device detected (USB cable from the PC to the Line 6 device) with your guitar plug in , in my case I wear head phone instead of speaker, and then you open the software (pod farm in my case). You will then hear your guitar and can select the amplifier combination for the effect you want.
To help you with the guitar playing here, you should consider Guitar Pro (which you can have access from this site by clicking one of the top icon) since you have the file from here, but there are also so many available fro free. I have the song book which has 30000 files. You have to pay for the song book as you pay for someone to group them together, but the files are available individually for free. When you download the software you can try it for 15 days.
You should have a look at Chas demo in the GP group, as he deacribes above, you will find out pretty much what guitar pro can do for you. (Nice job Chas)
Hope this helps

Marc- I don't know anything about the "Songbook". Can you point me to it? Sounds cool. I have a few hundred GP files but 30,000 is amazing!
Thanks buddy!

The mysongbook site used to be reasonably accurate however, they were closed down for a while for legal copyrite issues, out of them a new site was developed called:
http://www.gprotab.net/
They are pretty fussy about the tabs they accept and are generally not too bad, you don't need to download the entire catalogue either just the ones you want

Thanks for all the responses fellow guitar-slingers. I am still way confused. Is GPro a software you can record midi files into? I downloaded the demo and it is not obvious to me how you would go about recording into it. I am trying get to a place where I can do multiple track recordings, knowing POD Studio is very basic, I still can't figure out how to use it. thanks m
I would like to be pm'd about the songbook as well.
Guitar Pro is not a recording product. You should download Audacity (www.audacity.com) - it's free and is what I use when using my POD. It will record multi-tracks. Also you should have gotten some software with your POD farm that allows recording. Let's see - Reason Lite was oneof the ones I got with mine. However, I already had some experience with Audacity personally so I just stuck with that one. I know - this gets really confusing. The POD will allow you to connect to your computer and record through there. I hook up my POD via the USB, and then launch the PodFarm software. The PodFarm software allows me to select things like my amp and any effects I might want. I plug my guitar into the POD and record directly into a track in Audacity. I also have microphones that I can plug into the POD. And record separate vocal tracks. I can play the guitar track from Audacity so that I can hear it to record a vocal track. I am new to this as well (the POD anyway) but I have been practicing with it. I have detailed instructions on how I hook mine up if you want me to PM them to you. Izzy
