Moving to adding melody to my playing

I really struggling (as in REALLY) to add melody notes into my playing. Any 'how to get started tips' for making that breakthrough transition from strumming to adding 'color/melody'?

I understand your struggle. I struggle for every note! However I have found that there are lots of folks here just like me. As for adding melody, look up Heil's lessnos on chord solos. I'm sure you will find useful information there. Good luck.

That Chord solo set of lessons is really good, and if your goal is to add some character to your strumming, this is the first step. I, too, am working hard to improve that aspect of my playing, and have watched that set of lessons more than once. Good luck.
