Here's a technique that Tommy Emmanuel uses ALOT. He has quite long and fairly thick fingers, and he OFTEN frets 2 strings (on the same fret) with just 1 finger. My fingers are too skinny to do that. But if your fingers are thick enough, then it frees up another finger to be used elsewhere! This can be a BIG advantage, if you'll pardon the pun... For example, you could finger an A chord with just 2 fingers, instead of trying to cram all three of them in there... So instead of just choosing a guitar that suits your hands, you might also alter your technique to take advantage. And if you've never heard Tommy play, then check him out on Youtube.
