I agree with maybe a lighter pick, but not a softer strum. Lighter pick would help, that thing sings out a lot like mine does, only mine's a bit smaller so the bass isn't as prominent.

I like that song, and thought you played it nicely.

If you know it, rock it!

Nice job Gary! You carried the rhythm very well and you made nice chord changes. Really nice first post! You made us old timers proud!!

Cheers! :cheer:
I appreciate your comments, after getting everything set up to record I was half wore out, next time I'll do more prep and be rested before I push (have my wife push) the record button. Again thanks for everyone's support. Gary

Nice job Gary. I actually like the louder strum. Your audio captured the highs quite well.

Thanks Bob, The camcorder allowed me to use a seperate mic which I still have to play with the positioning of, closer to the sound hole or not? It did definitely take away the background hiss I hear when using the built in mic. Maybe I could back the mic off and that way my louder strum would not dominate the vid so much. Thanks, Gary

Thanks for your comments. My guitar is the Orchestra size (smaller) which I find easier to hold, you must have a parlor size if it's smaller than mine. I also like the song, especially with NY singing it. I could retake with some different placements ,mic, and lighter pick etc. but I think maybe I'll come back to it in a month or two, no sense in trying to improve on it just because I can. That is where I'm at on that song so it's nice to finally get my videocam and do all that it takes to get it posted, it's a relief and a goal met. Thanks to all my TG friends and their support. I was just going to suggest moving back from the mic. In watching you play, it didn't appear that you were strumming too hard or with too stiff a wrist, so I bet that sitting across the room, your volume was at a good level. Good job!

WooooHooooo Gary!!!!

Great job. The only suggestion I have for you is to watch that thumb on your left hand. The higher it is above the neck, the more it cramps your fingers and slows your playing. Nice chord changes.

Hey Gary welcome the the esteemed club of video posters! Karma for posting and for your great work on this song. Timing was really good (good idea to play along with Neil, timing you can trust!). Good for you using a pick, that's something I can't do at all well yet. Well done!
Maybe this should be under the Target Student's Review thread?
You think so? Do we have a Target Student Review Thread? If we don't it's a good idea. I'm sure besides the obvious errors on some changes I'm sure Neil could pick this vid apart pretty well and maybe a lot of us could learn something!!

Thanks for the "Thumbs up". I kinda notice it was waving at us, mainly when I was in the upper frets. Can't make the 2nd riff on the 2nd fret w/the thumb up. It just seems to pop up as I go up to that 10 - 12th frets, but it feels comfortable in that position. Maybe Neil will comment when he returns. Thanks for your help. Gary

Yes, we have such a thing for Target members only! Go post your vid there. Neil tries but he can't get to every video. But he does try.

I really like that song and I thought you did a real good job. I have been trying it also, but I am having a bit of trouble with the D-Dmaj7-A- transition. You've given me some inspiration to get it done. Thanks

Bob
