string noise when changing barre chords

Brad,

squeaking is part of playing. You'll hear it on professional recordings. Now there is excessive squeaking and a normal squeaking. As others have said a softer touch on the fretboard will help and that just comes with practicing that song and anticipating the change. Also as others have said, alot has to do with the strings themselves. Personally I use the Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze. They are coated, but to my ears, they still give off a great tone. I'll get a squeak here and there with them but they cut down the noise a great deal.

thanks for your replies, well thats one less thing i need to worry about then, i will see if the noise quietens down after my strings age as they are only a few weeks old.

Which strings are that Brad(the brand)? i like elixer,,smooth as ice..

hey willem not sure of the strings, but i do know they werent elixers as i chose the cheaper ones to them, next time i will try out the elixers
