Hi rtob,
As you stated the lesson you were looking for was a teaser and not a lesson. Unless someone plays the entire video on youtube in this case they would not have heard Neil telling them this and directing them on how to recommend it for a lesson. So when you came here looking for something that does not exist I am sure it was very frustrating. Side note: We really do make a lot of lessons from the recommend a lessons voting.
On youtube when we have a video like this that is not on the site yet we have a description explaining it is a teaser lesson and to go recommend it if so inclined. This video did not have it so clearly spelled out in the text so I have edited this for those who do not watch the entire video. Neil does explain in the video to recommend it if you want to see it as a lesson.
I am not sure how to make the site more navigable. We have a big button up top that says Guitar Lessons. Under it are All Lessons, Free Lessons then there are even subcategories. Under All Lessons is a breakdown of lessons by band. We have a drop down filter on that page. Please tell us specifically what you would change about this.
To say we are not considerate of our customers shows your lack of understanding of the history of this site. We are constantly listening to our members and making changes. Your individual experience on TG so far is not representative of every person and to assume so is wrong. For these other complaining comments you mention that are common to yours I would be curious of the time of these as the site has changed a lot over the years.
As far as excessive marketing goes not sure what to tell you. If someone tries to access paid content and are not paying members we have to communicate to them how. If you are simply saying we market too much on youtube I don't know what you would expect since Neil deserves to get paid for the time and care he puts into these lessons.
I hope after some time on the site after your initial frustrations you feel differently as we have worked very hard to make the site easier to use. With over 500 lessons it can be quite a task to meet everyone's' needs and we welcome any suggestions you may have on this. As you have seen a few members have already jumped in to help you already. I think this speaks volumes for what your experience will be like overall. So give us a chance and we will give you a chance.
Thanks,
Mike
