Rockstar?? I'm just happy to finally meet one of my TG goals (post a video). I think you are much more likely to make the Rockstar catagory, I'll be watching as you ascend into that Rockstardom!! GaryGary,
Welcome to the club! You did good, real good.
I hope you had as much fun with this as I have. I 'd like to make to make a really detailed post about your video, but I can't. Your performance was great, your sound was awesome, what else can I say? Oh yeah, when we can we see the next one?
Great job, buddy. Six months ago did you think you would be a video rock star?

Very good video Gary, your strumming and beat was consistant and the guitar sounds very good, I don not think it was too loud, no distortion in the soundtrack. As Andy suggested you migth benefit to use a tighter strap as it seems that you use your palm to keep the guitar straight. So rather then just getting to your chord, you have to slide your hand to hold the fret board and then make the chord. You could test it by playing and then droping you left hand, if the fret board goes down, then you need to adjust something.

Lavallee, no doubt I need to adjust something, either my setting position, maybe the tightness of my strap. I definitely use my left hand to support the guitar more than I should making it harder for me to get in the classical playing position which I think would help with my playing in general. Thanks for your input, I'll keep at it until I figure a combination that works for me, how can I go wrong with all my TG friends. Gary

Thanks, Gary! I've got a way to go before I make my video debut, but I'll keep working at it!Fred wrote:Go for it Fred, I'd like to hear your video sometime in the future when you are comfortable with playing Harvest Moon. Good luck & keep at it. GaryGary:
Nice work - I liked the ease in which you made your way up and down the fret board. I've been working on this song on and off....you've got me back to the on mode! Great video, looking forward to more!
Cheers!

Jay, several people have mentioned that the picking is more difficult for them. It is just the opposite for me. I need to practice my finger picking to be able to play quite a few of the songs that I would like to do for my next video, but that isn't going to happen until I put some serious practice into finger picking. It seems like Harvest Moon would be difficult to play without a pick. I might just practice it to see how it would come out playing with my thumb and fingers?? Well, thank you for your kind words, I appreciate them. Maybe you need one of those fancy picks, they are made in Newfoundland, and are called Wegen after the last name of the maker they cost $20 for 3 and come in all thicknesses and shapes, just out of interest Google "Wegen guitar picks" and check out the variety of picks he makes. Gary
I followed the advice of the Rock'nRoll Preacher Man and used a hole punch to make a couple of holes in my picks. It doesn't completely fix the problem of the mobile pick, but it does help alot. I fing it difficult with to play (reliably) individual notes with the pick, but like anything with the guitar, it's just a matter of putting in the time to develop the muscle memory.

Punching holes in your pick, tell me more, sounds like a way of getting a grip on the pick so it doesn't slip out of your grip. Neverfoundthetime, regarding your post, yea Al is great, he was a rock when I was struggeling to get through some of the tech stuff to convert my video into a form that agreed w/YouTube. Al has been helpful with some tech issues more than a few times and he deserves Kudos for it. Gary

Aw shucks, thanks guys- I like to help if I can. But don't tell anyone else! They'll think I'm actually TG Tech Support- (which I'm not)
