Suzi, I just noticed Al mentioned how many comments you had and you mentiioned that many were your returns, just as many of mine are, but there was a lot of discussion about your new Taylor & I felt left out cause I've only had my guitar a little over a month. I'm just having fun. It is a Guild and if you are interested in the story of how I got it and a couple others you can go to "Community" Groups, look under "Guild contemporary series" for the long story. I really do like your Taylor. I went to the Taylor factory the beginning of Sept 09 and really got an appreciation for them. Gary

Thank you Willem. I just got my videocam and was anxious to get my first video posted. It feels good finally meeting one of my goals for TG. Gary

Gary, Did you edit your title or did I somehow miss getting name-checked before? Also, I scanned through past comments, but I didn't see you mention what your guitar is. It's beautiful. I love the cutaway feature- something I would really like in the future but felt like I couldn't afford right now. Not that I'm complaining- I love my guitar!

I'm going to take a look at Harvest Moon starting tomorrow. I'm ready to tackle something harder, even if it takes me two years to learn (which hopefully it won't!). And I do love this song.
Name Checked?? sounds hockey like! I consider it more name promo. I didn't mention my guitar, I think at least one person asked about my guitar which kinds surprised me as it is a somewhat new, made in 2007 but not available in stores as it was a very limited run by Guild. That's why I changed the title, I focused more on my new videocam and didn't mention my guitar which I would think more people would care about, so after seeing the well deserved attention your guitar was getting I realized I didn't even mention my guitar. Maybe that's guitar checking??. I still think finger picking is harder than the strumming although you make it look pretty easy (finger picking that is). Go for it Harvest, I bet you can have it down in less time than your last one, that was 10 days??. Go for it. BTW I have a Dreadnaught w/ cutaway,(It's a Blueridge) sounds great but to big for my to get around. You seem to get the best of both, sound and playability. Gary

Very nice. Holding the guitar when sitting is not easy but I think you've found a placement that works for you. Good left hand position. The right hand could move a bit to be more angled to the strings. Really nice. Sounds like you've done some metronome work on this one.
A little more light would be good also.

Karma for your first vid!

Gary, well, I'll keep you posted on my progress of Harvest Moon. If it takes me only 10 days I'll be a very happy woman. I'll check out the Guild group. Looks like a sweet guitar!

I checked out your guitar at the web site you posted. I really like that it is a full body acoustic. Seems like all the guitars with cut-outs have electronics so you lose some acoustics from less body and more from having the electronics. It looks like yours is the ausitorium size which I think is the same as my Guild's they are called Orchestra size, a medium size. You must have some great acoustic sound from your guitar although it will get better with time as the wood opens up. I hope do do another video but it may take a week or two at the rate I'm going. On that Comtemporary series under Community "Groups" Willy Porter is playing the guitar I used to play Harvest except his is the Sunburst finish top & mine is Natural otherwise they are identical. He really plays well IMHO. Gary

It's actually the "grand concert" size (Taylor also makes a "grand auditorium" size), which I think is slightly smaller than the auditorium. You might be right about the cutaway thing. Is it possible to get a full-on acoustic with cutaway? All the ones I saw (in the store) were a/e guitars, which wasn't what I wanted (right now). Anyway, I love the sound of my guitar (it's even better in person than in the video filmed by my cheapo camera), and the thought that it might improve over time is very exciting!

So I started taking a look at Harvest Moon today. You're right, it's not terribly hard. But I'm having a hard time switching from the barred A to the D/A chord. Any suggestions?

I was going to PM you, then realized we weren't friends yet!! Prepare to get a friend request!
