A recent post was discussing replacing Saddles, Nuts & Pins & it was mentioned that you can use different pins on different strings to get better highs & lows. My Guild, Willy Porter Signature Model comes from the factory with 3 bone pins on the bass strings & 3 ebony pins on the treble strings supposedly for a greater range of highs and lows. You can see the bottom 3 pins are black (ebony) and top 3 are white (bone), it came from the factory this way. Listen & decide if it sounds like Guild achieved a broader range of high's and low's for yourself. Gary

These "Guild" Contemporary Series guitars were never promoted. Guild moved from California to the Tacoma WA factory in 2007 for a limited run of these acoustic and acoustic/electric w/florentine and venetian cutaway, auditorium size body styles. The Willy Porter Signature Series was the top of the line & supposedly less than 100 were produced in mid 2007 before the parent co. (Fender) moved Guild to Hartford Conn and all production was done in China under the GAD series. Check our TG Community "Groups" for "Guild Contemporary Series" for more complete details of the short lived & never promoted (except at the 2007 NAMM show) guitars and a video of Willy Porter at the 2007 NAMM playing his Signature Series Guild. There are still a few to be found through Wholesalers and a few music stores specializing in hard to find Guitars.
