I will get a more detailed structure to this soon but as a start, here is how I might rank the tunes in the Song Library as far as difficulty, on a 1-10 scale. You could really help me with this by posting your comments, impressions, thoughts, or problems with particular songs in the Bands section of the TARGET members Forums, below. That way everybody could keep a running commentary about each song. This was just a very quick assessment and I would really appreciate everybody's input.

Thanks, Neil.

That is very helpful.

Of course, I see now that I started at level 7 with Angie. Oh well, so I won't be too frustrated if it takes a while.

My difficulty relies with the finger picking songs. I haven't finger picked prior to totally guitars but am trying to practice some of the listed songs since I've discovered your site. The Fleetwood Mac songs are almost impossible for me but can play From the Beginning and Over the Hills... even though these are ranked 7. I've even enjoyed learning The Sage. With the Sage, it's difficult for me to use the pick in conjunction with fingerpicking. I can play it just finger picking but it doesn't sound the same without using a pick. Hope this provides some insight.

Great, thanks Neil this is a great way to gauge what songs may be more appropriate to start with and how we are doing as we master different songs.
I' going to print this list out for quick reference.

Keep Playing

Neil, I reviewed your list and noted that only Lucky Man & Who’ll Stop The Rain was listed, 2 of the four songs in the Beginning Five Lessons. You have Lucky Man rated as a 1 and Who’ll Stop The Rain? as a 3. Did Dark Hollow and Brown Eyed Girl not make the cut? So, if you have three groups; beginners, intermediate and advanced players, then the song levels will be grouped into ranges? Beginners: 1-3, Intermediate:4-7, advanced 8-? This will definitely help me select the tunes that are within my playing ability.

Neil,

I really appreciate you posting the level of difficulty for each song. Since I am a beginner, I now have a direction to go in. With each lesson, I am learning new things (technique, hand position, making and changing chords, etc.). Although it requires a lot of practice I am having fun and enjoy playing the guitar.

Thanks

Johnny

Hi Neil

Many thanks for the list
Just the guidance I need
Yes some people will be in between levels as some things are easier than others as we are all different, for me I'm just learning with a pick as always used the invisible one, Any song with just strumming I would be 3-4 levels up, less so with finger picking.
This will help

Thanks Neil

Neil:

Thanks for the guidance. I really appreciate you taking the time to place and order to these. I have looked around the site a bit and seem to get lost from time to time.Is there a place where you have some exercises that would be in between the song levels? That way we could do some of the exercises to build up to the next song level.

Any info is appreciated.

MJ
