Hi Neil, I must have short fingers...I am having difficulty playing this song when i play the melody. Especially when I place my 4th finger on the D string. As hard as I stretch that little finger, I am messing up that note and it never sounds clean. What advice do you have with people who have this problem.

Thanks,

Lisa Cash

Lisa,

Without seeing your hands my guess is that it is more of a hand position problem than a short finger problem. Usually what I tell a student for this is to make sure your left thumb is a little lower on the back of the guitar neck, leaving a little space between your palm and the bottom of the neck (near the 1st string). It is really important that your left wrist is below the level of the neck and slightly bent, not straight.

Try this and let me know if it helps...

Neil
