I know that you addressed this on one of the webinar videos, but what did you say the original tuning was that Neil Young used on My, My, Hey, Hey. I tried to do a play along with the original last night and it didn't work out to well. I am guessing it is dropped D, but wanted to check with you to make sure.

Thanks!

I believe all strings are tuned down one step, not just the E.

Dustystrings,

Thanks for jumping in. You are right, whole guitar tuned 1 step low-

D G C F A D

You could almost consider this a negative capo (-2nd fret).

Wow, now that was cool! I just went and played it with that tuning. Huge difference! I was amazed by how accurate it sounded.

Well here's a first. As I was down tuning my guitar the G string snapped. How the heck does that happen. Guess I will be making a trip to the guitar store for a new string. Can't wait to try this tuning though.

When I was learning how to change strings, the guide I was reading said don't loosen the strings too fast, or you may snap them. I thought that sounded strange, but, looks like you are proof. Also, if I am changing strings, I wouldn't really care if I snapped them, but maybe that takes the tension off the neck too fast. ?

Well I guess that makes sense, I just never had it happen while loosening the strings. I guess I will have to wear safty glsses to play Neil Young songs from now on.
