finger picking

Neil...Im looking to learn how to fingerpick...need some beginner type lessons and songs that i can practice on...Ive been playing exclusively with a pick...any thoughts? thank you

The best place to start fingerpicking is with an arpeggio song like House Of The Rising Sun. This has you just hitting the strings one at a time in a consistent pattern. After that it is good to look at an alternating bass song. I usually have students try Blackbird or Dust In The Wind next.

I am working on some in-between songs that are bluesy improv type pieces. I hope to get a couple of those up soon.
