Electronics ?
Hello, I'm trying to choose my first acoustic amplifier for practice or maybe playing in my garage. Dont need alot of volume but looking for something that will sound good without blowing a ton of cash. Also trying to figure out a good pickup for my acoustic guitar I have been looking at the Fishman sound hole style and Fender Acoustisonic amp. Any info or ideas would sure help a lot !

The topic of acoustic amps really has a lot to do with taste and preference. I have two acoustic amps. Well, one truly acoustic and the other kind of multi-purpose.
I have a Crate CA-125 as my true acoustic amp and it does a really fine job. But the problem is it is too powerful for playing around the house. It's dual channel 50w but when I turn it down low it loses it's fidelity. It's great for playing a gig but it really puts out the sound!
I recently bought a Roland 20X Cube and I'm in love with it. It is probably an electric guitar amp but it has an acoustic setting that doesn't provide any distortion, plus it has a clean channel that is perfect for acoustics. It has completely clean sound and can be played at very low sound levels. Plus it has a switch to emphasis the bass at low sound levels. It has so many cool features I'm blown away. But the best part is it's only about $150 brand new and I bought an almost new one on Craigslist for $100!! And that little sucker can play really loud because it has 20w of power.
I am one of these research junkies that reads everything written about stuff and the Roland has received very high reviews. There are several models in the Cube series starting with a Micro Cube through much larger amps.
Every amp company now makes an acoustic amp and they all sound pretty good. Fender, Marshall, Peavey, Line 6, Vox. Find the one that has the features you like and go for it!
Happy hunting!!
