Hello Neil:

I am surprised you have not yet profiled "Hey Joe". The Hendrix version, of course. It is one of my favorites. Maybe some time in the future you could put this on line for us all. Please, make as close to the original copy as possible.

Hey there, let's not jump to conclusions. I think I said something about considering some of his acoustic masterpieces...

Now if I can just find that Jimi Unplugged album that might be floating around here somewhere.

Funnily enough Neil, I was watching the local bay area news last night and I saw a Neil Young Interview and they were discussing woodstock and how at that time he was in teh band Crosby Stills Nash and Young and he saw Hendrix for the first time up close and personal and thought he was the best he had ever seen, and from that moment on became his hero..

Not too sure about Neil's dress sense though, they cut to a shot of him recording a newish album and he was wearing shorts with whits socks half way up his leg..

He also talked about how he writes, and that he has the most success just driving around at the moment, getting some inspiration and pulling over to the side of the road

I think everyone wanted to hook up with Hendrix at one time or another. Didn't ELP want him too? No one played the guitar like him either before him or after!

BTW- I still like the Leaves version of Hey Joe the best!! Jimi didn't pick Hey Joe anyway. Legend has it it came from the Animal's former bass player who wanted Jimi to play it!

Hendrix never played the 'original' version or for that matter, he never played it the same way twice. The TARGET program could have really helped him. :laugh:

Funny you should mention Hendrix unplugged. I have a copy of some of his home recordings and he does a very nice version of Angel on an acoustic if you want a copy.

The Hendrix and Neil YOung story goes they flew together on a charter plane but it went to the wrong airport, together with an attorney, Melvin Belli they stole a pick up truck and drove to Woodstock, Neils states this is one of his best Hendrix memories..

I would still like to learn in on acoustic. I love it.
