Hello there fellow guitarists. I'm Carpet from Glasgow, Scotland. Do we have any other Glaswegians here? If so, tell me about yourself and your skill level etc.

I am the definition of an intermediate, but would love to master this thing.

Say hello anyway, it's good to meet you.

HI there I guess you hae a flair for this sort of site going by your name lol. I'm orignally from carnoustie on the other side of the country from you. Now in NZ for the past 26yrs but always a Scot, like you INtermediate level trying hard to break through to the next level. This is the place to do that.

So welcome to you enjoy the site. Just a point it may pay to check out the Forum threads as there is a a Please Introduce your self Here thread which most of us have used, you'lll get a better response there and you can also read about the rest of us.

Cheers see ya around.

Welcome Carpet (!)

Originally from Glasgow, now living across the border. I know.

I'm sure that you'll enjoy your time here, and your guitar playing will improve - provided you can spend more time practicing than posting on the forums!

Hey Carpet, Big welcome from the USA! Welcome to the program. We're glad to have you with us. Chas already asked you to flesh out your introduction a little so I'll just follow by asking you to tell us a little about yourself, how old you are, what are your musical tastes and where you are on your guitar journey. It's actually quite painless!

I know the area around Glasgow a little having spent a couple of days exploring the area many years ago. I remember the River Clyde was quite lovely as was the University. Went trying to find Nessie and visited the other Lochs along the way. I bought a beautiful sheepskin jacket in Dumbarton, which wasn't too far away as I recall. I was heading down through Robert Burns country to Dumfries! I wanted to play Troon and Prestwick but didn't make it. Beautiful country and people. I felt at home there. I hope to go back soon!

Anyway, enjoy your experience here at TG and let us know if we can ever help you with anything! don't forget to join the Scottish Group.

Cheers! :cheer:

Guys, thanks for all the welcomes!

First off, I'm glad you enjoyed your time here - it is a beautiful place. I say that even though I live here! Hopefully I'll get to visit America one day.

OK, I'm 24 and have been playing guitar on off since I was about 16. I've always wanted to master it, but like most others, frustration and stagnation meant I just doodled around playing the same old bits of songs I always have.

I want to have total freedom of the guitar and just be able to pick it up and create something. And to have dexterity and co-ordination. Really, I want to learn it all, then just absorb it so I don't even have to think about what I'm doing.

Music I like includes all the obvious ones like The Doors, The Who, Donovan (get some donovan leitch songs in here, please!!), Rolling Stones, Small Faces, Beatles, Cream, Yardbirds, Kinks etc.(I was a huge fan of anything 60's) through to Stone Roses, Smiths, The Cure, Nirvana, Blur, Charlatans, Vaselines, Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian, Strokes, KOL, Fleet Foxes, Decemberists, Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen, Iggy & The Stooges and on and on...

I've been turned on to some other music too thanks to some of these videos (Like EL&P for instance).

I like the set up here, good videos, good instruction. Well, that's about me! I'll look foforward to improving with you!!

PS - is there really a Scottish group here?
