Neil, I have a suggestion about the song lessons. I am one that wants to learn to play AND sing the songs. Now, I am not the greatest singer but we are called to "sing joyously" and that is what I want to do. It would be helpful if you could give the lyric timing with the instruction. This always seems to help me learn a song faster, then again, probably because that is my goal to perform the song (if to nobody but myself in my living room!! haha.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks Mark

Hey Mark, great idea! How would show the timing? On the tab or seperately? I'm interested in a good way to do it as I've never seen it done.
What fun is a good song if you can't sing along to it, even off key?
Cheers! :cheer:

I guess Classical Gas is off your list then Bear.
I also want to be able to sing. We need some instruction on how to find what key we sing best in, which reminds me... Gotta check Chris' thread.

To sing in your key is probably trial and error. to match lyrics with tab is not easy even with great programmes (programs for Bear) I know i've tried with Guitar Pro, it can be done but not easy and also its something which can be easily captured by those seeking copyright infractions so possibly not a clever thing to do.
I don't know where Neil and Matt stand with copyright etc but I do know from experience that numerous sites have been shut down due to adding lyrics to tabs , so maybe not a cool thing to do people

Mark, maybe this will help: When I am learning the phrasing, I underline the word or part of the word or pause where the chord change comes in. The really helps to get the phrasing down. I have some examples if you PM here with your email address I can send you some examples: I need you -America; This is the Life - Amy McDonald; Strawberry Fields - Beatles; Daniel- Elton John; American Pie - Don Mclean etc.

i would say,go to to local lybrary and try to get the sheetmusic so you can see the melody in notes and place them on your strum or picking, its the easest way.
