Noticed your advertisements- Guitar Pro. I use it a bit. It would be nice to see some mini classes on using Guitar Pro for more than just listening to the songs on it. Like how to actually enter notes on a measure. Good site keep up the fresh material. :)

Hi Diver, There is a group within TG called Guitar Proc tricks and tips:

http://www.totallyguitars.com/community ... and+Tricks

There are many members who familiar with the software who could help.

Regarding entering the notes, if you start from a fresh sheet, you have to open your section then enter the time signature. Then you start entering the notes in the score by choosing a number which reflects the bar on the string which is appropriate. Then enter the note duration from the note /duration menu until the bar is full. If the bar is not filled properly, it will turn red to let you know you need to fix something.

I forgot to write that first, you have to create some empty bars from the edit menu : insert bar. You can put the beat at the end by selecting the complete partition (if it is always the same beat) from the sound menu. Some of these instruction migth be in the icons below the main menu.

The easiest way to do it is to just start typing in your TAB if you have it. GP will auto translate it into standard notation for you. It will also assume a 4/4 time signature.

If you have a specific question, then post it in the group and someone will help you out.

Incorrect the bars will be created automatically as you type in the tab. I found the best way to learn was start with a blank 'sheet' metaphorically speaking and just play with the software use all the menus, and just play. Take a look at an existing tab and hover/highlight over the notes in the tab to see which menu button shows as having been used.

There are some tutorials on You Tube which may be a useful starting point. Just search Guitar Pro....

I did not realize you could just begin with a fresh sheet and start entering the tabs and that the a new bar would be generated automatically . Just tried it and it saves a lot of time.

Also as Andy mentioned the time signature just comes up after the first bar is full

Thanks for the correction
Marc
