Hello all, I am getting pretty good now on the guitar, thanks to Neil and would love to be able to sing but I really suck. Any thoughts on how to get started learning how to sing along. Thanks

You just gotta get in there and do it. I did all the singing tonight as bad as my singing is, nobody ran away. LOL The more I sing, the better I get. (to a point, then I need professional help!)

perrotta,

What's the issue with your singing? Is it that you think you have a lousy voice or that you can't play and sing at the same time?

great articles. Thank you so much. I will try to work on this myself and later find a teacher.

Doc- those were great articles! I did exactly what you suggested. I went to my local gutar shop's bulletin board and found someone teaching. Recorded the sessions (painful- destroy tapes later to prevent extortion or if you plan to run for public office!) and was told to stand (or sit) up straight about 3 times a minute!

The only thing you didn't point out, and is very helpful to us guitar players, is to do some stretching exercises before your start singing like shoulder shrugs and neck stretches. It was amazing what these simple exercises did to relax the muscles in neck and around the throat and perhaps most important, to relieve a little anxiety of singing in front of a superior singer.

Your best advice, by far, was to find a good singing coach or teacher. It is worth it's weight in gold if you are serious about getting better with your singing!

Cheers! :cheer:

Doc, Fabulous articles - thanks. I'll start putting some of it into practice. I won't be looking for a teacher soon - just bought a house - so money's tight. But, intend to at some point.

thanks again.
