Willem and Tom Thanks

Your keyboard pictures have me puzzled.
On Willems A4 is to the right of middle C whereas in Tom's A4 is to the left of middle C.

So why the difference?
Which is correct?
I have googled for other explanations but have met with another brick in the wall, as I do not
know which source on the internet to be correct!

In the Stringed Instrument Tunings link below, Guitar Standard tuning makes no reference to A4..... have a look
and see if you can enlighten me?

You doubt me Dermot? :P You have to reference from a full keyboard.

Tom, without hurting your feelings, your diagram is incorrect. In part;
Unlike our 'vocabulary' alphabet, we begin our 'musical' alphabet with "C" instead of "A". Ergo, "_C_D_E_F_G_A_B_" are the major notes (the white keys on a piano). We do so due to the fact that the Dyatonic Cmajor scale has no sharps or flats. Again, a 'benchmark' - a place to begin.
Thanks Willey, as soon as you mentioned it I realised that the first A should have been A0, not A1. I got this chart on Google and should have looked closer. No feelings were hurt :) Just trying to make sense of it. :)

Cheers.

Tom.

P.S. Now the E string fifth fret for A4 makes sense. I knew this to be correct but couldn't see how it worked with my Internet keyboard, but it works now with a properly numbered one.

Thanks.
