Oke Neil,,I think I understand now how it works and how to read the pentatonic patterns,,so I worked out the C maj pentatonic on paper/graphic..
IF I did it right then I believe its treu that I understand it..
You can click the image and enlarge or zoom in,,or just print it,,is not so very clear ,,it lost some dots or pixel!!!
Maybe a wondering from my side could be the numbering of the 5 patterns,, ''do we give the 5 patterns the note number from the major scale..1-2-3-5-6 '' ?
I just called it 1-2-3-4-5
EDIT: IN THE GRAPHIC I MADE A MISTAKE WITH NUMBERING THE PATERNS,,YOU TOLD ME THAT IN THE THREAD WITH FRED,,WE SHOULD NUMBERING THEM 1-2-3-5-6,,SO PATTERNS 4-5 SHOULD BE 6-5.

Willem, I've seen that graphic before, but when I clicked on yours, it was so small that I can't really see it.

hey willem i like your graphic!
however, what you have drawn is a G major or Em pentatonic scale, not a C major pentatonic scale.
move the whole thing up (to the right) by 5 frets, and you'll have your C major pentatonic scale (which is also Am pentatonic scale)
cheers

RD,,Thanks for likeing the graphic,,in my opnion I can not agree with you that it is a G or Em pentatonic 'cos in the Gmaj or Em pentatonic is not a C involved..
Gmaj pentatonic has the notes G-A-B- -D-E-- The fourth and sixed note is skipped...
But I am on the beginning with this stuff so you can confuse me ,,but on this moment I stay with my opinion..
this is Gmaj pentatonic,,not placed the boxes,,but
