In the beginners series you demonstrate on video how to hold a pick.
You also comment that there a many ways but they were not open for discussion in that particular video.
What other methods of holding a pick were you refering to?
When would you use them and are there any advantages to use these other methods over the
method explained in the video?

It's not a stupid question.
I held my pick between the tips of my thumb and first finger before I joined TG. It was excruciating learning to do the fold as Neil teaches. I think it does give me more stability and control, but I have also overcompensated and developed a fist hold for the rest of my hand. I'm trying to unlearn that at the moment and relax more so I can mute with the side of my hand. It's coming together slowly.
I must admit though, when I see amazing players who use the finger tip technique (on this forum) I do wonder just how important it it to use the more stable method. I guess I'll find out if I start getting into more complex plectrum work at some stage.
Thanks for the question Dermot.

BTW Dermot...it's Saturday the 13th here mate. Maybe one of us is in some alternate reality.....

Wow what a massively over-engineered solution to a non-existent problem...
