I notice in the score in the first 12 measures the high note has a rest above it.
See image below of measure 6

How do the rests translate in practice when playing?

When I listen to what Hector is playing he seems to be doing more than just a pinch but I don't seem
to be able to replicate the sound he gets. It's as if theres a fractional delay.

I'm not even sure it's a pinch.... I've watched the left hand / right hand techniques video many times but it doesn't sound like a straight pinch?

Hector plays the pinch 'separated'.....Neil explains this technique in the lesson of Romanza (right hand section).

Don't worry about the 'rests', it's just that during the pinch the melody notes are not played (which should be obvious already). It's a pinch and then a set of three notes, when the next pinch comes, the set of three notes 'rest', they're not ringing while you're playing the pinch....you should be doing this already automatically (I hope), so forget about it. It's just a very correct/detailed way of writing it down.

My two cents.

I have had a look at the Romanza (Right Hand Part) lesson.
I need to practice it now.

Don''t know if it add something to it,,but I try anyway,,the pinch is not part of the melody!!!(note stem up),,if you would play only the melody it starts on & of 1..

Hello Willem

Bass notes stem down, melody notes stems up.
The up stems start on the & of count 1.

Thanks

Yes Dermot but did you know that?

There are two diffrent things written in one!! the 1/8 rest is part of the melody,,it looks a kinda strange but when you read it its a kinda simple, otherwise you at to look at two bar lines(like a piano player..)

I try to grip the notes/transitions I found it very stretchy

goodluck on learning this..

Willem

EDIT: Its not only bass notes written with stem DOWN,,filler notes are too..

I knew about the stems Willem.... going up or down as I've seen that explained in other lessons.... Crash Into Me being one I think.
