Hello Neil
In part 7 of the solo, 3.18 minutes in.
You refer to the note at Fret 5 String 6 as E.
Without a capo it's F at Fret 5 ,where does E come from.
I figure when without capo E is on the 4th Fret.
Thanks
Dermot

Well I'm curious too....!
Again, Dermot, in the guitarworld things are relative to the capo.....so we call it F wíth or without it....stop taking the capo off while trying to figure it out.... :S .....this is why the capo in general confuses you, leave it where it is and go from there.

Thanks Neil
I thought maybe I'd overlooked something.
As simple as the capo might be, it still confuses. :S
That's a very honest response, you could have said
it was thrown in as a test!!!

Vanessa
Solved.....I've glued it on !!
:woohoo:

The capo is confusing to you because you don't treat it as the new startingpoint....don't make it harder than it is......then again, that's you right???!
Anyway, you're definitely allert to details.....even Neil's rarely made 'mistakes'. So yeah, you passed his test of which he wasn't aware of, haha!

You've got to get up early to find one of Neil's little tests.

Sorry this may be a silly question but why tune down to C etc. and then capo all strings on 2nd fret. Why not just tune to D etc in the first place? Apologies if this is obvious or answered already.

I think thats a great questoin,, all I can think of is with tuning down you lose overtones, also with putting a capo on you lose overtones, so the sound is a bit diffrent, I also can be totally wrong so I find it a great question.
Willem
ps Why?

I think it's tuned as described and capo'd at Fret 2, to reproduce the sound
as Nick Drake produced in his recording.
