Chris,
This site has someone in every time zone there is I think. I actually live in two of them myself. And people wonder why I have so much time to be online....

I no longer drag my knuckles on a kibbutz B). I live in Karmiel (often spelled Carmiel), which is a small town of approximately 45,000 in the Western Galilee in the north of Israel.Catman wrote:Well, that part's true isn't it? LOL! David, great story, thanks for sharing! Do you still live on a kibbutz?! Where in Israel do you live?just touching a guitar would turn me into a long-haired, drug-addict, knuckle-dragging, low-life good-for-nothing

See!?! Everybody look! Do you see how he's trying to trick me into pirating this thread, and then he'll act all innocent and teddy-bear like! Many of us in the West are fascinated with what's going on in Israel with your new Prime Minister (maybe recycled is a better word! Hasn't he done this before?) He always struck me a strong, brilliant man! Very rational. Can we borrow him for awhile?

But in all seriousness, I think we should keep politics off this thread.

I'm impressed Chas, one man, two time zones! And Sarah Palin is really Michael Palin in disguise (didn't the funny voice and the wacky answers give it away?).

Ah, that was Andy not Chas in two time zones.... getting confused, my brain only fits in one!
Hawaii is actually on the line splitting it into two different time zones. Technically, I live in the -11 zone, but the state legislature decided to keep the whole state in one zone and chose the -10. So, I actually live in two time zones while never leaving home. At least we don't mess with daylight savings time. Talk about time travel....
This thread is spiralling out of control so I will add my bio and bring back a semblance of normalcy.
My name is Ric and I am 53, I was born in Michigan, USA, traveled throughout the US as young man and settled in Vermont. I was married and had a daughter, she is married with her own daughter now. Divorced and I remarried, a woman with three children of her own, they are all grown and gone now. We had one of our own and she is still at home. Besides music I have done Computer Graphics and am now a Systems/Network Engineer.
I have been playing music since the early 70s. During the early 80s a couple of guitar playing friends and myself built a small studio in my basement. We recorded some of our own material primarily for the fun of doing it and our own creative outlet. We had a lot of local musicians and bands come down to record demos and jam. In fact, that is how I ended up in the reggae band.
I play mainly guitar now, but I played keyboards professionally during the 80s and early 90s with a reggae band based in Vermont. We released three albums when I was in the band, one which we recorded at the famous Channel One studio in Kingston, Jamaica. During that time I had the opportunity to play with some big names in reggae music in some very large concert settings. We also had a band that a few people may have heard of by the name of Phish open for us few time and then both our bands jammed together.
My main musical influences though are rock bands from the sixties (The Beatles, etc.) and prog. rock from the early seventies (Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Yes, Jethro Tull, etc.).
I re-picked up the guitar a couple of years ago and decided to really learn how to play it this time. I have a old Alvarez I bought back in 1974 and a just recently purchased a Seagull Maritime cutaway w/QII electronics, this is my main guitar. I hope to buy an electric guitar soon, I want a Les Paul but can not afford a Gibson so I will have to settle for the Epiphone version.
So much of the music Neil is using for his lessons is music I am familiar with which makes it easier to learn. I think it would be very difficult to learn using music I was either not familiar with or didn't like or both. I enjoy the great conversations and discussions that take place in the forum (when they are not pirated, LOL). There is so much to learn here not only from Neil and the forums, but the groups have a wealth of information that is fun to share and read.
Keep up the great work Neil and company and all of you wonderful members.
