In my world, 2 long blacks are a pair of cigars.
WELCOME gingerjake! Be wary of strange bears and frogs sitting too close to you.... Oh yeah, we have a pair of old guys here that might cause you to break a smile as well...

Hi,, the HD28 is a nice instrument but does have some limitations. It is fantastic
if you want that typical Martin sound like Neil Young. It has pretty good range but
for more gentle type material; say James Taylor my little 000 shape Yairi beats it.
I must admit having the two are a luxury and I would not give up either.
Playing in pubs/clubs with and for people is tremendous fun once you get over the
hurdle of ' oh my god there are people out there - what if I screw up!'... I would
always recommend playing with people - you learn quicker and it drives you on to
learn more songs.. Find a nice wee pup/club that do open mic sessions, and join in
trust me you will not regret it.

Bear earns 10 points for Gryffindor for recognising CH= Confedration Helvetica aka Switzerland. Chas loses 10 points for Syltherin for mentioning 2 unmentionalables in front of a new female member. This thread will surely be censored!

Welcome aboard GingerJake. I'm pretty new here my self but not suffering from lack of opinions. When I bought my DX-1 I didn't know they made a 12 string also. I love my DX and since I found this place have been wearing the shiny off of it. Great sound backed by Martin craftsmanship and a bit more affordable price tag.Wow! Hi Chris! I just got myself a Martin D12X1 too & am really impressed by the sound. I wasn't sure this guitar would sound any good, but while waiting in the music store for my old 12 string to get a pin put in, I tried it out. And took it home.![]()
I'm just new here today myself so I'll have some catching up to do.
Hi to everyone else reading too.![]()

Yeah I have been told about playing with others in the past, but my mom always told I did not play well with others.....lol
Unfortunately i really do not have anyone around to jam with, plus I am amzing shy about stuff like that. Once in a while I have a buddy that comes to visit and we can play together, but nothing on a regular basis. That might change though, as I progress in my lessons. There is a network at the store I go to and people are always looking for the same thing.
Anyway, thanks for the info and good playing!

Hi I'm Mark and I'm 44 (45 tomorrow) and from England.
I started my love/hate relationship with playing the guitar over 20 years ago.
I would say that I'm an intermediate guitar player.
What I play is very much determined by what I am able to play.
I definately can't sing a note and my attempts at lead/improvisation have always been poor.
Playing fingerpicking and picking out the melody has been a good solution for me.
It allows me to play something recognisable and means I don't have to sing.
I've never played live to an audience (unless you count a couple of strum alongs to a dunken rugby club).
I've been a member of target since the very start and I think it has definately improved my guitar playing. I think I have a better feel for the rhythm. now.
