Hi Mike,

I note you mention a Takamine 12 string what model? I have a EF400s 1995 and it has a great sound.
I didn't realise it had a model # branded in there next to Takamine until i looked just now. Looks like it says EF385 if that sounds right. Don't know the year but i bought it used in a shop 10 years ago. Sound is ok but not terrific. I was in Ireland on vacation a couple of weeks ago and tried a beautiful old Gibson 12 string at a big music shop in Dublin. They wanted about 4,000 euro (add 2,000 US) so it was out of my league.

Just found out the first 2 serial # digits with Takamine indicate the year so mine is a '99, same as my Taylor

The EF385 looks very similar to mine although it had Graph X electronics equaliser. Do you have a serial number? I have a site that can put exact dates on Taks. Its not a lawsuit model (ones with a Martin style headstock)

According to the website:
The guitar was manufactured Saturday, July 10th, 1999. It was the 04th guitar made that day.

Greetings Mike to Vancouver from Lake Zürich (Zürisee) and welcome. My sisters became Canadians (Ottawa)and I love visiting Canada... never made it to Vancouver yet but that is one place I really want to visit. You will love TG, what, with Neil and the Muppet Show (Chas, Bear, Andy and Co.) how can you go wrong? Great folks! I love my Takamine 12 string (EN-10-12) and didn't know 'til just now about the serial number: 85010621. Can you tell me where to check that out? I also have a Takamine EN 60C cutaway (89110127) with classical strings. Sound like you have a great job for a music and guitar lover! Chris

The12 is as follows: The guitar was manufactured Sunday, January 06th, 1985. It was the 21st guitar made that day.

The EN60C is :The guitar was manufactured Wednesday, November 01st, 1989. It was the 27th guitar made that day.

Many thanks Kermit, keeper of guitar secrets. If Neil wasn't already Yoda, you'd be in the running. Same colour though...... :-)
