Hi everyone,
I finally watched the guide on how to use the forum and gather that I should introduce myself. I played guitar as a teenager but the accidental demise of that instrument and all the new things that came along like a terrific marriage, graduate studies and a career in science, led me to put it aside for quite a while. I always hoped to get back to it and last year on the occasion of a rather early retirement, I ran out of excuses and bought a new guitar. The good news was that even though about 35 years had elapsed I could still remember a handful of chords. The bad news was that that was all I could remember...

Fortunately the internet is available this time around, so I spent a lot of time looking for quality guitar instruction on the net until I stumbled onto TG. I lurked as a guest for a few months and then finally joined TARGET. Although I'm lucky to have a very good local teacher I haven't figured out how to replay his lessons when I'm home practicing. I've found that this site to be a terrific resource; I've learned a lot here and it's available whenever I need it. So many thanks to Neil and the rest of the staff. I look forward to learning with you.
Tom

Hi Tom, welcome to TG from Montreal,Canada. If you have a good teatcher, TG will certainly be a good combination to help you enjoy guitar.

Hi Tom,

Welcome from Seattle. There's a few of us here who put the guitar down for 35 or more years, then picked it back up. I'm still trying to figure out what all those strings are used for. Hope you can figure it out.
