Introduce yourself. What is your name and location?

Rick Catron Pueblo West Colorado

Tell us a little about your story, you can tell us your age if your game but not necessary (or age bracket, we have a truly diverse group). When did you take up guitar? How long have you been playing? What led you to look for lessons or help, how is it you ended up here?

I am 57 years young! I started playing guitar when I was in my twenties, but not seriously. I have always had a passion for the guitar. I bought music books and learned chord patterns, but no theory. Then someone introduced me to tabs and I started learning again. Then youtube comes along and I am totally addicted to learning new songs. I am probably an advanced beginner. I love rock and roll, classic and current day.

What Kind of Guitar do you play? Do you have any others in your stable? Do you lust after anything else specifically? (all of us here have the 'disease' it seems)

I have an Ovation acoustic, A Guild acoustic, an American Strat and a Schecter hollow body electric. I love guitars and yes, I have a bad case of the disease. I want another Les Paul as I had to sell mine last summer.

What is your favorite music to play? How about to listen to? What kind of playing styles would you like to learn or already know?

I am strictly a rock and roll kind of guy. All the classic rock styles (60's,70's, 80's) and I really like todays bands also (Nickleback, Matchbox 20, Train, some hard rock bands like Metallica). I am interested in learning some electric classics and learning to play lead parts and theory.

If there was one goal you could accomplish in your learning journey what would that be? or maybe you have many?

To be good enough to stand on a stage one day with a band and blend with them. That would be incredible. Would love to be on stage with Pink Floyd for just one song. Love Pink Floyd and David Gilmore music.

If you are comfortable share with us your work a little, job, business, whatever you want to say.

I work in the corrections field. I am currently the director of a drug and alcohol rehabilitation based half way house. I am also retired from the Federal government after 28 years working in correcional facilities.

Anything else you would like to share ? Anything about your family, hobbies outside of Guitar? On the site you will meet everyone from golfers to Gourmet Chef's to car nuts, and sports folk..and everyone in between. Whatever else you may want to add?

I play ice hockey at this advanced age. I started an adult novice ice hockey league in Pueblo Colorado several years ago that is still going strong.
