Im new here and would like to introduce myself. My real name is Tom and I played guitar from the age of 11 to the age of 21 off and on and then never picked it up again until I was 50. Im now 56 and the last 6 years I have learned a lot. I own a Fender Strat and a Carvin Acoustic. I lean more toward acoustic for some reason. I enjoy basic theory but don't want to be one of those players who knows all theory front and back but can't play a song from start to finish. I love Bluegrass, Travis Picking and Classic Rock. I wish I had all the guitars I bought as a teenager but I don't, as I sold them all back then. A 78 Gibson 335, 78 Les Paul, 2 1979 Strats, A 77 Taylor 510 and a Martin DC40. Ouch, it hurts not to have them but Im happy with what I have now, at least now I can play some! I was a letter carrier for 33 years, retired and the economy is so bad Im working part time in a bakery now, but I enjoy it. One wife, 3 cats and my dog, Molly. That's about it. Glad to meet you all.

Tom- welcome again! Great introduction! Man, did you come to the right place with all us 50-somethings. I just turned 57 so I'm just a little ahead of you. This seems to be the place for us players getting back into it again after learning when we were kids.

Well don't be a stranger on the forum and let us know if we can ever help you with anything.

Happy Playin' and Cheers! :cheer:

G'day from another Australian Tom. Great intro and thanks for taking the time. I think you will find plenty of people here relate to your preference for acoustic, I sure do. Glad you took the time to introduce yourself and welcome aboard. Cheers, Tony.

Hi Tom,
welcome to TG from another Tom (from Scotland). I'm sure you will learn to play lots of great tunes on this site. It's very friendly here. You can learn as little or as much theory as you like. Enjoy! :)

Tom N.
