My daughter is really into Jake Bugg. I've heard a lot of what he's playing and it's not bad. But stuck in the 70's. What's wrong with that?

I have probably mentioned this before, but a few good places to troll for new artists is KEXP radio in Seattle, WA (Dennisg’s stomping grounds), Daytrotter in the Quad Cities area (Dekotaj’s stomping grounds), and the Ugly Yellow Couch sessions (unsure of who is stomping on those grounds). I’m thinking that Daytrotter now has a monthly fee. I haven’t been there in a while. These were places I discovered the likes of The Decemberists, Dawes, and many others long before they became so well known.

Willem,

Don’t have much time to comment right now. Just wanted to say that was a wonderful song you posted of Maaike Ouboter’s on the songwriters show. I didn’t need the translation to understand that the words were well crafted, too. They flow well, and watching the tough looking guy with the tattoos unwind as he listened says it all. I did turn on the translation the second time around, and that sort of confirmed what I was thinking. Lots of talent there……good find.

Listening to suggestions of others as time permits.

How about digging deeper instead of wider?

I see you only have one Santana lesson, one Rod Stewart lesson, one Procol Harum lesson, and one Queen lesson. What about “Conquistador” or “Black Magic Woman” or “Bohemian Rhapsody”? Surely there are many more songs from these artists that would make great lessons. And there are only two Van Morrison lessons.

Just a thought.
I'll add my support to this point. Also maybe more on different genres say Flamenco/fusion/???

I'm with you Neil. I vote wider, not deeper. Shake off some of the rust. Here's some people that are interesting:

The Tallest Man On Earth

Alexi Murdoch

Neko Case

Antje Duvekot

Jake Bugg was mentioned, Anais Mitchell, the Civil Wars, Josh Ritter.

Those NPR Music Tiny Desk Concerts are full of great, topical acts.

Ed Sheeran's been around a while but might be new to some on the other side of the Atlantic.
