Newton Faulkner may be too enamoured of percussive effects for some, but he does have some gems in his canon. He uses lots of alternate tunings, and his songwriting can be quite affecting.

Dean:

I love Newton Faulkner. Someone here at TG introduced me to him a couple of years ago. I really enjoy his tunes "I Need Something", and "Uncomfortably Slow". I worked out the chords and made a chart for "Uncomfortably Slow" a few months ago. I check his site from time to time, but it seems he doesn't tour much here in the States, which is a bummer. I would love to check out a live show sometime. B)

Nice choices Jason.
Here's another British choice people may not be aware of, Biffy Clyro, primarily stadium rockers though everything they play they also do acoustically.
These are fun and satisfying songs to play with interesting elements over a basic structure.

A cute, goofy song by Damien Rice's former collaborators. Lisa Hannigan has a lot of interesting material, much on instruments other than guitar, and what a voice!

Talking With My Father-- that's a pretty Dougie MacLean tune. It might be not too difficult to figure out how to play.... if it wasn't in Open C tuning. Oh well.

And Lisa Hannigan-- with a voice like that lots of folks enjoy collaborating with her. This is my favorite performance of hers on YT:
