Hi Gang,

Along the lines of our recent discussions on swing time, we didn't even get into Swing Music and how they are related or intertwined. I just heard from my longtime friend Suzanne Weller about an online class she is teaching on the roots of Jazz and Swing that anyone can take for college credit. She will follow up with more info but you can read more about it at Foothill College.

Music 11A, Jazz and Swing, is offered completely online, so you can take the course from any location and on your own time. The class is 12 weeks, covering the early roots of jazz in New Orleans the origins of the rhythms used in jazz and swing and how they are used today in hip hop, fusion, R&B and popular music styles. This class is a great over view of how popular music came to America. Classes start January 5th.
