Hey Gang,
About 12 days ago I noticed this hummingbird hanging around the studio, gathering stuff, and building a nest in the frame of a canopy just outside TG Central. On Sunday March 8, 2020 she laid 2 eggs and has been sitting there ever since, with occasional trips out for food and supplies. I picked up a bird cam from Green Backyard and spent some time configuring it to stream to YouTube (probably too much time but it is up and iive now). If all goes well we should have a couple babies there around the 23rd. Take a look and maybe leave a comment to let me know you've dropped in.
Neil.
Check Out The TG Hummer Cam!
I spent a lot of time over a few days just standing near her, quietly but sometimes talking or humming. Sometimes I accidentally startled her and she flew off but mostly came back in a few minutes, at least after she laid the eggs. I was hoping to get the cam up before that but missed that window. I also started putting some stuff around her, tripods, guitar cases etc. Then on Thursday I got everything ready to go and snuck in when she was away. I did have to go in a few more times for adjustments but never more than a minute or two at a time. There were also some technical hurdles as far as streaming to YT. Like I said, way too much time probably, but now way worth it I think..

Hi Neil, I used to have neighbors with many hummingbird feeders on their back deck. One of the guys was able to put the sugar/water food on his fingers and have the hummingbirds come down to hover and taste at it. They can sure make some air disturbance at close range.. Maybe a Guitar arrangement of Leon Russell's Hummingbird is in order.

Just checked back in with mama Hummingbird. She's pretty active this morning but I don't see the babies yet. The countdown continues.....
