Original Song from Tom and Claire. Isn't it Funny......

[file/] This is a song I wrote mid last year after a conversation with a close family friend.

After another conversation this time with TG regular Chris, (Neverfoundthetime) who asked to hear it, I finished the missing third verse,
which Claire co-wrote with me last week.

Thanks also for the great support and encouragement from Daryl and Michelle.

I dare anyone to say this is a happy song. Enjoy......

WOW. Not sure where to begin. That was just fantastic. Touching lyrics, beautiful melody, the guitar sounded great, loved the harmonies, your playing was rock solid with perfect tempo. And of course I loved Claire's smile at the end! I'm so glad you finished the lyrics and posted this!

I will agree, that it would be difficult to call this a "happy" song. However, it made me happy to see the two of you perform together and make such a beautiful song. The guitar sounded very smooth and steady with a nice progression. The vocals were amazing (we have come to expect that from Claire ). Overall, it was a VERY good performance. I am so glad you posted this. I really love the small flurry of original work popping up lately.

Tom: How did you come up with the progression? Something on your own, or from another song with some tweaks? The lyrics certainly seemed very personal and heart felt. I really admire the final product here.

Thanks for the great comments Jason. Here is how I write a song. I normally don't have anything in mind, although this song was different in that respect. I just strum something and see what comes. Other times I just get a tune in my head and play it, the words usually come quite quickly. I get into a flow when I am writing and basically it writes itself. I always get the chorus first, then work around it. I've never used anyone elses progression, I just go with what I like to hear, relying on my ears for it to come together. That's it really. I sometimes have a whole lot of sections and then piece them together or move them around a bit to best effect.

Tom / Claire,

Not a happy tune from the lyrics , but it sure sounded good. Nice playing and of course Claire's vocals were great. Loved the harmonies too!
