LOL - many guitars in my 40+ years of playing. My profile pic shows me playing my first (purchased) guitar, a Suzuki F-80. I was 17 (1974) and this pic was taken at a High School Assembly. In 1984 I bought an Ovation Country Artist - nylon string, nice sound. Just recently let her go to a friend of mine.

I've had a few Ovations, the old Country Artist, as well as the new version in early 2000. Also had her steel-strung cousin, the Folklore. Sold the Folklore and decided to concentrate on nylon string. So I bought a Yamaha CGX171-CCA.

My latest acquisition is probably the BEST sounding nylon I've ever heard... She's an Epiphone Masterbilt EN-546CE. Had her for almost a year and I'm still in love... :-)

Ric,

I have a Takamine GS330 and an Alvarez RC10. What do you suggest using on the wood surfaces if anything?

My old standby acoustic is an Epiphone PR-200 circa. 1994? Don't remember for sure when I bought it, but I bought it new from AMS in an SKB hardshell case. I remember the case cost half of what the guitar did, but I've always been a big believer in a good case. That guitar has been my knockaround workhorse. Currently I usually keep it sitting around on a stand in the alternate tuning dejour - which today happens to be DADF#AD.

My other guitar is a Martin HD-28 that I bought new sometime last summer. I love the low end that guitar has when flat picked, but to be honest the low end is a but muddy for me when I finger pick it. I do just use my fingers - not the nails - when I pick. Of course that's why it is what it is. Not the guitar as much as the method.

So my current acoustic entourage consists of opposite ends of the spectrum. Someday, I'll probably pick up something with a tonal range in the middle and a big, wide neck. I'd love a Gibson of some flavor, but just haven't given it much thought at this point. I'm concentrating on my technique and technical improvement more than anything...

Good videos, thanks. Not quite ready to replace strings yet. Can a pick guard be added without much effort?

I play a Cordoba Fusion 14 "Jet" as my classical - great guitar, great sound, cutaway body with a thin neck for a classic. It comes with a decent built in pickup. It's a great guitar at a reasonable price. If you never tried one, you need to.

As for my steel string, I play a Gibson CJ-165 all Mahogany. Sounds great, looks even better. Bought it just recently at the Guitar Show Convention in Dallas. Went for the all Mahogany instead of the Rosewood because I like the higher pitch and resonance.
